Faye

Faye was adopted at 10 weeks old and was the best furry companion from day 1. She insisted on being involved in every single activity in the house and always joined the party – she was one of the girls!

Her alter ego, Lucy Maze would occasionally make an appearance – getting a huge burst of energy and running around the house making deep growly noises, which always made us laugh.

Faye loved sleepovers, crafts, destroying furniture, watching birds, bugging her sister, and face kisses.

Forever the best sissy

Dixie

Dixie loved walks and swimming in the Manuels and Virginia Rivers. Winter was her season, as she loved snow diving and chasing snowballs.  The sight of a cooler on a Friday meant “cabin” and her excitement and whining would only stop once she took her rightful spot on the backseat of my truck. She lived a great life and gave us so much happiness and joy. Have fun chasing balls on the other side. RIP Puppers.

Toffee

We always joked that Toffee never learned how to bunny. As a prey animal, he was supposed to be afraid of basically everything. But he wasn’t.

The day we met, he came running up to me (Mom) to say hello, while the other bunnies ran away to hide. I knew he was a unicorn from that moment.
Once he settled in at home, he showed little to no fear of anything or anyone.
The vacuum cleaner? A mild annoyance. He’d give it a sniff, and go about his business.
Visitors, repair people, technicians…aka strangers in our house? Potential treat dispensers. He had to give them a sniff, and they always had to give him a treat.

He loved to sit at the window and watch everything outside. We dubbed him Neighbourhood Watch in his old age. He’d stare out the window, and chatter whenever he saw a car, person, or animal pass by. He especially loved to watch the humans shovel their driveways on our street. Certified newsbag, he didn’t want to miss anything. If he wasn’t in the window, he was perched on Mom’s shoulder like a cartoon parrot so he could survey his kingdom (the living room), and keep an eye for any food leaving the kitchen.

Bunnies aren’t supposed to be cuddly, but he was the cuddliest. 100% purebread sook, he loved to snuggle in between his humans whenever he had the chance. Especially at bedtime. Tiny head somehow taking up all of Mom’s pillow, body tucked under the blankets, smooshed between the humans. When it was all perfect, he’d have the best snooze, only waking to smother someone’s face with tiny bunny kisses.
His second-favourite place to cuddle was on my shoulder. Head tucked in against my neck, back feet jammed into my collarbone, he’d sleep like someone coming off a 16-hour overnight shift.

Dad would get cuddles, too, but it usually came with a bit of attitude. Dad is a rotational worker, and is away for 3 weeks at a time. When he’d come home, Toffee would hide in his little tent and just glare. If Dad approached, he’d be greeted with the butt (the bunny version of a middle finger), as if to say “You left me! How dare you?!” After several hours, and a little bribery with blueberries, he’d get over it and cuddle extra hard, smothering Dad’s face in kisses. Every single time.

Our delightful little weirdo, he is so terribly missed.
