I’m not sure if Onyx will ever be the same without his little sister, I know I won’t be.
When I first brought Harley home, he wasn’t too happy about it, but she was determined to love and be loved by him. They soon became the very definition of a bonded pair. You know it’s true love when she could steal his food and he would simply step back and wait patiently for her to finish before returning to whatever she left….even though they were both given their own dish.
She simply loved to love. She may not have liked to be picked up, but given the opportunity she would make herself nice and cozy on your chest or in your lap. She would, however, let me hold her to cut her claws, often getting all four paws in one go. If she wanted to be pet she would definitely let you know. If the meows and purrs worthy of a cat three times her size didn’t get your attention, she would help get you started by rubbing against your hand to pet herself.
I say her favourite food is yogurt not because she ate it often, but because it was impossible to eat it around her without her grabbing the spoon. The sound of it being opened could wake her from across the house and she would yell at you as if had just woken up from hibernation and hadn’t eaten in months and the strength of her grip on the spoon was something else.
I may not have had you for nearly as long as either Onyx or I would like, but I’m incredibly grateful for the time I had with you and I feel so lucky for getting to witness the love you and Onyx showed each other every day.
Sleep well, my sweet lil Princess Harley.
